Despise Not the Day of Small Things

Zechariah 4:10 “For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.”

Welcome to the Bible Answers for Daily Living blog. Most of my readers have known me from the BibleResources.org website or the former website of Bible.com, of which my husband, Bud, and I founded back in 1994. YouVersion is now leading the future of Bible.com by providing a free Bible App made available on the Bible.com website; while the Lord is now directing us to share Bible based teachings and other Bible tools on the BibleResources.org website. When we turned Bible.com over to YouVersion it had around 2 million unique visitors a month. I never dreamed when the Lord called me to serve Him that He would have me share the writings that He revealed to me with a potential audience of 2 million people. Our current website, BibleResources.org, started with a humble beginning as well, and is growing daily and that audience is nearing the half million mark. I just feel the Lord wants me to share in this first blog about how He commissioned the literature and online ministry and grew it for His purposes. We began the Christ Unlimited Ministry in 1975 with a small evangelistic outreach in West Texas. Today, He has commissioned us to take the gospel to the world via the Internet. We take our calling seriously as we realize the gravity of being a good steward of the Word of God.

Now, numbers mean nothing with God unless He is sanctioning those numbers. In fact, at one point in the Bible, David was chastised for numbering his troops because he was looking to numbers to save Israel instead of looking to God who controls the numbers (1 Chronicles 21:1-8). God is ultimately the One in whom we find our safety.

Proverbs 21:31 “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.”

In the beginning God charged man to “be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth.” He also told us to take dominion and subdue it. Abraham, the father of faith, was told by God that his seed would multiply as the sand of the sea which could not be counted. So God wants multiplication of His family and we are commissioned to do our part in getting the gospel out, so many can be saved. It is to that end that we labor in the Lord’s vineyard.

Genesis 1:28 “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

Now that brings me to one of the purposes for this blog and that is to share Bible answers to people’s questions about the problems and situations they encounter in this world. I believe many problems that Christians are facing are because they do not apply Bible based answers to their problems. People are trying to solve problems the world’s way instead of inquiring of the Lord as to what He would have us do; and, because of this, many in the body of Christ are failing, or they are being destroyed by the devil because of basically three things:

  1. Ignorance of God’s Word
  2. Deception regarding God’s Word
  3. Rebellion against God’s Word

I believe one of my commissions is to help you and others to understand the Word of God (the Bible) so that you can overcome ignorance of the Word and also to help you see any lies and deceptions of the enemy of our souls, the devil. Remember, Jesus said the devil was the father of lies. I believe that God wants me to help my brothers and sisters see the truth of God’s Word which will, in turn, purify the church so she will be ready for the Lord’s return. He is coming for a Bride who is without “spot or blemish.” One thing that needs to be purified is the false doctrine that is running rampant in the church as a whole, although God does have a remnant that holds to the truth. IT IS HIGHLY IMPORTANT WHAT YOU BELIEVE! If we have been deceived and believe wrong doctrine, as many in the church are being taught, it can lead to our destruction and the destruction of our children, according to what God says in His Word. There is a true doctrine of Christ and many false doctrines. We must each ask the Lord to show us His truth and His doctrine.

Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”

2 Peter 2:1 “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

1 Timothy 4:6 “If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.”

Pray and see if the Lord would have you follow this blog and learn with me, as I share each week different Bible Answers for Daily Living as the Holy Spirit guides us in His Word. I believe the eyes of the Lord are searching for those who have hearts that desire to serve Him and are doing so in small ways and counting it joy. As you learn and apply more of the Word of God to your life, He will promote and multiply the work of your hands.
