Corona Virus Pandemic

Is the Covid19 Virus Pandemic a Judgment from God?

First of all, God did not overtly orchestrate this Covid19 Pandemic as a judgment to punish the world or His people.  However, it is a judgment from God.  It is not the “wrath of God” that the Bible speaks about that is to come upon the world in the last time as the final judgment on the wicked.  I know some have said this is not a judgment of God and it comes from the devil.  Yes, it does comes from the devil, but our problem is we need to get a Biblical definition of what “the judgment of God” is in order to understand what is happening now.

Although judgment usually has an evil connotation to it (the execution of the penalty for sin), it also has a positive side. Judgment has to do with the sowing and reaping process. This is defined in Galatians 6:7-9  “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

From this we can see that the negative side of judgment is that evil reaps destruction, while on the positive side; good that is sown through Jesus is rewarded. God’s judgment on evil is seen by the curse that is on wicked men. While God’s judgment for the righteous will manifest in His blessings and rewards on them. This is true for individuals as well as nations. Negative judgments have been hanging over our nation for some time because of the many sins that we have corporately committed.  Now we are reaping the fruit of our national sins.

Romans 6:23  “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

As a nation (the USA where I live) we have sown good and evil.  I believe God has been gracious and merciful to us because we have reached out to help the other nations of the world.   The church has sent many missionaries around the world.  Christians in this nation have supported many missionary works, while Christians and others have supported humanitarian works in every nation. The United States government has poured billions of dollars into foreign aid and forgiven billions of dollars of indebtedness to other countries. We are one of the first on the scene to arrive with aid and assistance when natural disasters, such as earthquakes, strike other countries. America has helped the oppressed and poor of other nations.  She has helped rebuild infrastructures, railways, etc. after nations have been ravaged by war. I could name many more, but this should suffice.

As a nation, we have also sown much evil. We have exported our ungodly music, movies, pornography, tobacco, alcohol.  Our tobacco companies cannot sell their wares to the young people in our nation, but they are allowed to export it to the youth of other nations. We have been hypocritical in calling ourselves a Christian nation when we allow abortion. Many Americans are drug addicts, and are consumed with pornography and vile movies.  We commit adultery without blushing and are sex-crazed. I have noticed that the most prevalent types of ads that daily come across the Internet are ads pertaining to sex and money. They are selling something pertaining to sex, ads that tell you how to become a millionaire so we can live indulgent lives. There are those that encourage gambling, as a means to obtain wealth quickly, instead of pursuing wealth by honest work. They are trying to take a shortcut to obtaining wealth.  We export our vices instead of being a good example to the world.  Sharing Christ with other nations is difficult when they see our lust and materialism.

Our American culture, as a whole, has been shot through with all types of sinful temptations designed by the devil to keep us weak, fearful and powerless to fight against him. Yes, judgment comes upon us as we reap what we have sown. God wants to bless us with good things, but our sins prevent God from blessing us. Of course God always has a remnant of people who are obeying Him and walking in His will. He always blesses and takes care of His covenant people wherever they live, even when our societies are corrupt. Jesus Himself lived in a corrupt society when He walked the earth.

Jeremiah 5:25  “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.”

Jeremiah 23:22  “But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.”

This pandemic judgment does come from God in this sense – He set up the rules and told us if we broke them what would happen.  He also told us how to avert judgment and that is by coming to the Lord and asking forgiveness of sin and then following Him in obedience.  Jesus took our sins and our judgment on the cross so that means we do not have to take it.  However, if we yield to sin as Christians, we open ourselves up to the devil’s attacks.   That is why it is important to keep our hearts right before God at all times.

What God Has Personally Spoken to Me About the Covid19 Pandemic

On New Year’s Day every year I have always sought the Lord about the coming year and what it had in store for us personally, in the ministry and in our nation. I always would ask Him what we needed to do to please Him and be effective for Him in the coming year. This year was no different.  While the Lord did not give me any details, He did say to me we needed to increase our prayer life as there was a judgment coming on the nation. The prophets of God have been saying for some time that a mighty revival and movement of God was coming soon and many said it would be this year.  The Lord spoke to me a number of years ago that when this great awakening came, it would be accompanied by a great judgment in the land.  He revealed to me that the judgment would be two-fold.  He would use it to reveal to many who are lost, their need for a savior. It would also cause His people to cry out to Him and repent, as they would have nowhere else to turn.   However, I did not know it would be this Pandemic until 3 days prior to the announcement of this virus that this was the judgment that was coming.

After it began spreading, the Lord spoke to me these words: “I need you and Bud to pray with me against this virus that is coming, as Satan plans to use it for great destruction.”  Of course, we began to pray. Satan plans to destroy lives with it, while God’s plan is to take what Satan means for evil and bring good out of it. Satan is the thief and killer who brings death, while our Lord Jesus comes to deliver us and bring us life. In the Old Testament during the time of Joseph his evil brothers, who tried to kill him, were not successful. God used it and turned it around and brought good out of the situation. He can do the same with this evil virus.

John 10:10   “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Genesis 50:20  “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”

God’s heart is to always save and help, but He gave man a free will and many will not accept His salvation and deliverance.  Since God will not force man to follow Him and commit to Him, He allows men to make their own choices. If they choose to sin, then the consequences of sin progresses to death, as the Bible says, “the wages of sin is death.”  Death and destruction come upon mankind because of man’s free will to sin.  Even when the principal of death does come, God is still there trying to reach wicked men and save them, as His heart is that none should perish.

Romans 6:23  “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

How is God Using This Pandemic for Good in the Lives of His Children?

This pandemic should not be a hindrance to anything God wants us to do if we allow it to produce the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. God has shown me the thing He desires the most in our lives is not that we have a big ministry or outreach, but rather that we become like Christ.

Everything we face on this earth, big or small, is a test for us to allow either the character of Christ to be formed in us, or if we yield to our flesh, the nature of Satan will be reflected in us.   This pandemic can serve as a test in our lives.  The test is, how are we going to react to it?

The pressure and the things that this pandemic are producing are requiring us to make choices and those choices become the test. The pressure from this pandemic either reveals our negative attitudes and actions or the proper reactions from God’s nature.   If we allow God to use it to show us where we are weak or what we have failed to do or what God wants us to do, then it will produce good fruit in the end.

However, if we yield to the soulish sins of fear, complaining, discouragement, depression, anger, impatience, stealing, dishonesty, strife, etc., that means we need to cry out to God for deliverance, so He can cleanse us of these things. He uses this process to conform us into the image of Jesus.  (In my early walk with God, I did not even realize that some of these negative emotions were sin until the Holy Spirit revealed this to me. I just thought these were part of this life.  Yes, they are part of this worldly life, but they should not be a part of our lives as children of God.)

Although God did not want this evil to come upon mankind, He can take what Satan meant for evil and use it for our good.  We can use this time of isolation, to seek Him, pray and study the Bible with the purpose of producing the life of Christ in us. He wants us to grow in Him. Maybe we have already conquered fear or some of these other characteristics that are not like Jesus. If so, then we need to reach out to others and witness to them so they can find the same peace in the Lord, as we have.  God wants to use this time to deliver us and cleanse us, so He can fill us with His power and glory to overcome at this hour.

I am listing below just a few things that some are experiencing that He wants to correct so we no longer get upset or fearful, but can enter into the “rest of God” and find peace in our souls.  This is by no means an exhaustive list; however, the remedy is the same for every problem we face and we find every remedy in the Bible:

1.) Are you experiencing the “fear of death” or fear of getting the Corona Virus or any other disease for that matter

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

Exodus 15:26  “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

Hebrews 4:10-11  “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

2 Timothy 1:7  “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

2.) Do you feel the need to get out of your house because your spouse and children are upsetting you and it is triggering anger in you and you are having a hard time controlling your temper?

This reaction is revealing something in your life that needs to be changed.  You have a soulish problem.  We are triune beings.  We are a spirit, we have a soul and we live in a body.  The soul is made up of our mind, emotions and our will.  After we become a Christian we then renew our minds with the Word of God and bring the emotions under control of the spirit man ruled by the Holy Spirit in us.  Then we need to take care of our bodies as our bodies are our “earth suit” so to speak.  The body itself cannot sin; it will simply come under the edicts of our will and the Spirit of God, if we allow Him to control our lives.  The Lord is revealing many things to us during this time of confinement and wants us to present these faults and weaknesses in our soul to Him so we can overcome them and walk in His nature in all things.  Patience is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. God is allowing our circumstances to try our faith so we can come forth as that pure bride of Christ at His coming.

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

Psalm 107:19  “Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.”

James 1:3  “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”

3.) Is your anger directed at the way the authorities are handling this situation and is it wrong to be angry?

Anger in itself is not wrong. It is an emotion we all have. God, himself is angry at things, but His anger is a righteous anger.  He is angry at sin because He knows it destroys us and others.  We should be angry at sin, injustices, evil edicts, evil done against the innocent, etc. However, there are two kinds of anger — unrighteous anger and righteous anger. We must not yield to uncontrolled unrighteous anger that embraces hatred.  As Christians, we must give our anger to God and ask Him to intervene in unjust situations and allow our anger to motivate us to help change the things that are unfair in a Biblical way in love. Peaceful opposition and demonstration is not wrong. However, we are told to put away unrighteous anger. Unrighteous anger is based in rebellion and will lead to anarchy and destruction. Embracing this kind of anger sets up the person who embraces it, as a god. They take the matter in their own hands.  Remember God says, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay.”

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

Romans 12:19  “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

Deuteronomy 31:17  “Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?”

Colossians 3:8  “But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.”

4.) Do we have to obey the government’s edicts regarding the pandemic?

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

Romans 13:1-7  “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.  Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.  For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.  For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.”

My Comments:  As long as it does not violate the Word of God or our conscious, we should obey.  If it does violate God’s Word, we must not obey.  Things we disagree with that are unjust and anti-Biblical, we should seek to change those laws in a Biblical manner, not through rebellion or anarchy. As Christians, we have the power to change any circumstance through the power of faith and prayer.  We can rule from “behind the scenes” in the spiritual realm through prayer by believing God’s Word over any situation.  We first must find out what God has to say about a situation and then we apply that Word by faith to it. We do this by confessing and decreeing what God has to say about it in our prayer times.  However, we have to remember faith works by love. We cannot hate others and expect God to move in our behalf.  Remember those in the world are blinded by Satan.  Those blinders can only come off by our prayers and our witness to people.

5.) Do you have fear of hunger or lack during this time?  How will you be able to trust Him to supply your needs?

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

Psalm 33:16-22  “There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.  An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.  Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;  To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.”

Philippians 4:19  “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

6.) Are you out of a job and have no money and are fearful that you cannot take care of your family?

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

Psalm 70:5  “But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.”

Psalm 121:2  “My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”

My Comments: God wants us to understand that He is the One who will take care of us at all times, no matter what is going on in the world, if we call upon Him.  However, we must establish God as our source and not rely on self, our jobs, our pensions, our retirement funds, our savings, our social security or any other source of finances.

Now all these are legitimate things that God uses as a means to take care of us, but if we trust in them, instead of God, we could find that they will disappear. We are living in the time of the end and the Bible predicts a lot of destruction is going to be happening in the world. We cannot afford to look to anyone to take care of us but God.  With God, if we trust Him and look to Him and obey His Word, He will make a way for us through another job or another source. He promises never to leave us nor forsake us. He is our source for all things.

Hebrews 13:5Let your character {or} moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you {nor} give you up {nor} leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless {nor} forsake {nor} let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]”

7.) Are you having a hard time maintaining your life style in the place you live?

My Comment: Perhaps the Lord has been wanting you to downsize or even move to a new locale or seek a different job and fear has kept you from taking that step.  This down time gives all of us time to seek God about making some changes in our lives.  One of those could be to sell some of the extravagant things in our lives, like homes, automobiles, boats, etc. Soon people may not even be able to sell things and they will then have to be given away or abandoned or go the way of bankruptcy.  Allowing finances to determine our decisions regarding the will of God can be our downfall.  If we obey God and do His will, the finances will follow, but they should not determine the path we take. God wants us to trust Him completely.  He has a good plan for each of us.

The Holy Spirit has been speaking to many in the body of Christ about getting out of debt. This could be the time to move in that direction. God has been patient with us as the faithful prophets of God have been speaking to us for years about getting out of debt.  I do understand that many have legitimate debt, as emergencies or other urgently needed funds seem to have forced them to use credit cards. However, this is the hour the Lord wants to free His people from debt, if we will believe Him to do so.  Selling things and downsizing is one way to do this.  Debt is not evil in itself.  It is not paying the debt that is sinful. According to scripture those in debt are also subject to the lender.

Proverbs 22:7  “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”

Dave Wilkerson, a prophet of God (now deceased), began warning God’s people over 45 years ago about this day in a book he wrote, called “The Vision.” He saw hard times coming and urged Christians to get out of debt.  He also saw the anarchy and destructive weather and national disasters that were coming. Most of his books are out of print, but you can search for his sermons on YouTube.  He encouraged Christians to get ready for hard times. There are many good Christian programs that can give you a plan for getting out of debt (even paying off your home).  You can Google the subject or go to YouTube for those plans. Dave Ramsey is one of those who help people with a plan to get out of debt.  Seek the Lord with your whole heart about this and He will reveal what you are to do.

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

Jeremiah 29:13  “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

1 Timothy 6:17  “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;”

Hebrews 11:25  (Moses) “Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.”

8.) Do you need to do anything about preparing for any other future calamities? Is it Biblical to store up food (not hoarding) for hard times?

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

Proverbs 22:3  “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”

Proverbs 6:6-8  “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2  “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;”

My Comments:  As we can see by just a few scriptures, this is a matter of guidance, timing and wisdom. First of all, remember storing up for uncertain times or emergencies is not hoarding. When supplies are available, that is the time to store up.  However, we should take a humble approach to this, as God knows His plan for each of His children. There are two extremes in regard to storing up food.  One is the extreme preparations of some “preppers” who develop bunkers guarded with guns who have decided they can store up food for 7 years of tribulation and more. The other extreme is people who either believe the Lord is coming to take them out of any tribulation, so they do not need to prepare at all for any emergencies. They believe God will take care of them.  From the verses above we can see that the Bible pointed us to the ant and use of wisdom. When you see evil in the land, it seems prudent to think about what we might need to overcome in perilous times.  The ant stores up food in good weather so that when winter weather comes, they will have food.  I believe keeping an emergency food supply is simply a prudent thing to do as we are living in very uncertain times.  This pandemic has shown many people how unprepared they are for any crisis.

It seems rather foolish and a lack of wisdom to trust others or the government to take care of us. It is also rather prideful to think that we will not have to endure any hard times before the Lord returns and since no man knows that day, it might be prudent to do as the scripture says and “occupy until He comes.”  How can we occupy and reach out to others without food to eat?  We will be too busy just surviving.  Now if we are very poor and have no means to store food, that is when I believe the Lord will make a way to feed His people supernaturally, as I believe the Lord will give us the faith to multiply the food we have, as He did in the New Testament when He multiplied the loaves and the fishes to a fainting multitude.  God is concerned about feeding His people as in the Old Testament He created manna from heaven to take care of them while they were in the wilderness.

Jesus told us about the evil that would be in the world right before He would come back to this earth a second time and He told us we would need to “endure.”  Endurance is indicative of suffering some hardship.

Matthew 24:13  “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

Many Christians do not think it is spiritual to store food as they sincerely believe the Lord will take care of them.  God created us with a body that needs food (except when we are to fast and pray) so He also will provide for us.  Yes, God promises to take care of us, but if we do not prepare for ourselves, who will He use to get food to us?  Somebody will have to feed the unprepared.

In the Old Testament Bible, the Lord raised up Joseph in the time of famine so that the Israelites had food to keep them alive in that time. He also created manna to feed the Israelites in the wilderness.  In the New Testament, Paul instructed the churches to take offerings in order to help their brothers and sisters in the other churches who were suffering and in need. God will make a way to feed us, but one of those ways can be for us to be responsible and store up some emergency food.

However, the most important preparation is spiritual preparation.  Without an understanding of the Word of God and committing and obeying God in all things, all the food you may have stored up will be in vain.

Bottom Line:

The bottom line is the repeated phrase throughout this article:

God’s remedy is making a total commitment to Him and believing His Word:

If you make this commitment to do anything He tells you and to go anywhere He leads you and get into prayer and the study of the Bible, God’s Word, then I can guarantee you that you will be able to hear His voice and walk in the peace and rest that you are seeking.  You will hear His voice and He will give you grace to obey Him. There is no other way to walk in victory, but to die to our way and live to His!  What a glorious way to live!

My late husband, Bud, shared in his testimony, that he was always hearing people say, “God told me such and such, and he said he never understood why he did not hear God speak to him.”  Later he said, when he finally surrendered completely to God’s will, that is when he finally heard the voice of God and what an amazing life he lived after that. One of Bud’s last notations were written on a piece of paper I found in his Bible and it read: “Real ministry flows from what Christ is doing in us, not from what we are trying to do for Him.  True ministry is a natural part of our relationship with Jesus Christ and then it naturally flows over to others.”

I have listed just a few of the frustrations and stressful things that we are facing with this Corona Virus, and now, anarchy, in our midst; but the things each of us experience are all different.  However, I am here to declare that our God is sufficient to help us overcome any personal challenges, if we surrender all to Him and serve Him.

I do believe this virus will subside, as I believe God is going to allow His people more time to get their houses in order. However, we need to make the most of this space of time we have ahead of us.   Based on what I see in the Word of God, I feel there will be more judgments ahead until evil is purged from the hearts of men and the nations. Jesus is coming to establish His Kingdom in the earth. God in His mercy is cleansing His bride in the midst of these judgments and she will come forth in this hour to demonstrate the Kingdom of God on the earth. The church is a long way from being “without spot or blemish” but Jesus did make this statement:

Matthew 24:22  “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”

He will use His consecrated people to minister salvation, deliverance, healing and miracles to those last multitude of souls that will be coming to Him in this great move of God that is soon to go forth through His people. But He is only going to use those who are committed and obey Him by lining up with the Word of God.  Spiritual preparation is the greatest preparation we need to make by praying and studying the Word of God.

Now, God does not want us to come to Him by pressure or tribulation that comes upon us, but first tries to reach us through His goodness. However, if we do not yield to His mercy and grace, then judgments come and His hope is that in the pressures of that, we will cry out to Him and escape the things that are coming upon the earth.

Romans 2:4  “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?”

Romans 11:22  “Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.”

Luke 21:36  “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You, at this hour, thanking You for Your great mercy and grace that You are giving to Your people.  Lord, we give You our hearts anew and ask that You show us the areas in our lives that need changing so that we can repent and offer them to You in order that we might be cleansed and set apart for Your work.  Strengthen us to occupy until You come. Help us to watch and pray, as You instructed us to do. We thank You for the precious Holy Spirit who gives us the power not only to overcome sin, but all things that oppose Your Kingdom.  Lord, demonstrate Your Kingdom in the earth through us, so that all may see Your witnesses shine with Your glory at this hour. Lord, I thank You that we have victory over this pandemic and that nothing by any means shall hurt us, as that is one of Your promises to Your people. Let each member in the body of Christ come to that total commitment so that we can work together in unity with You to reach the lost. Lord, You commanded us to go unto all the world preaching the gospel of the Kingdom and then the end would come. Let us be worthy to escape the wickedness in the world and be the “salt” and “light” to this dark world.  I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
